Review title: Less than Stellar

We went to Alcatraz on a Saturday. There was a group of 15, including eight adults and seven boys ranging in age from toddler to 11. We chose the restaurant because 1) it was close to Lucas Oil Stadium; 2) it allowed kids; and 3) they took reservations. We sat upstairs in the "loft" area, which seemed to cause issues with the service. The server was nice enough, but I had a feeling he also had tables downstairs and was split too much running up and down the stairs. Not really his fault, more a scheduling/management issue. Took a LONG time to get drinks, etc. It seemed to take an inordinate amount of time to get our food also.

While some of the food was okay (and the Traz Fries are excellent!), some of it...was not. The three oldest boys, who are all chicken tender fanatics, didn't like these. They said they were greasy and the breading kept coming off. Clearly an issue with how they were cooked. One of the other boys was not keen on the kids' meal choices and wanted a turkey or ham sandwich. Ham isn't on their limited menu and the only turkey they have is diced (which means they truck it in that way for the salads). The kids' meals are $8.95 (seriously?) and it was $1.00 extra for their drinks. The meals came with a choice of cole slaw or salad as well as fries or fruit and a cookie. Not many kids who would get this meal will eat salad or slaw, yet it's a standard part of the limited kids' meal menu. The cookie wasn't great either. The boy who didn't like the choices ended up with a burger. No idea what they charged his parents for that.

The bill for my part of the group, which was two adults and one kid, was more than $50 with the 18% gratuity that was added on for the big party. What we got for that: one kids' meal, one burger entree, one appetizer, one kids' drink and two pints of beer. Seemed like a LOT of money for the not-stellar service and the mostly only average food.

We're attending another event at LOS later this month, at a similar time and day of the week. Suffice to say we WON'T be going back to Alcatraz for dinner then.
